done so in 1980–1984.3 Since the condom is widely available and does not require a visit to a provider, the rapid increase in its use at first intercourse suggests that young women and men may be relying less on family planning providers as their first source of protection against pregnancy. An analysis of 1982 NSFG data determined that 17% of sexually active women aged 15–24 in 1982 had visited a family planning provider before their first intercourse, and that an additional 10% had made their first visit within the same month.4 Among the remaining 73% (who waited at least a month), the median time to the first visit was 23 months. Thus, at the beginning of the 1980s, the vast majority of women who initiated sex did so before visiting a family planning provider, and the typical woman waited approximately two years to make her first visit. Traditional thinking has held that a long interval between first intercourse and first visit to a provider has negative implications for young people, since the months immediately after initiation of intercourse are a prime period for pregnancy to occur, due in part to low levels of contraceptive use.5 Past research has indicated that the Lawrence B. Splitting Ratios: Metric Details of Topological Line-Line Relations

Within the geographic domain, an important class of problems relies on geometric abstractions in the form of lines where, for instance, transportation networks and trajectories of movements are typically perceived or modeled at such a generalized geometric level. To support querying and computational comparisons, oftentimes multi-resolution models are needed to guide users from coarser to finer...

Improving the Erosion Behavior of Inconel 625 Substrate by PTA-Deposited Stellite6/B4C Composite Cladding

The purpose of this study was to improve the erosion behavior of Inconel 625 alloy by plasma transferred arc-deposited stellite6/B4C composite cladding. For this purpose, 5 wt.% of boron carbide was added to the stellite6 clad. Phase analysis and microstructure evaluation were conducted by Optical Microscope, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), and Energy-dispersive Spectroscop...

Title: Fine Frequency Tuning in Monkey Auditory Cortex and Thalamus

23 The frequency resolution of auditory neurons throughout the ascending auditory pathway 24 is an important parameter for understanding how sounds are processed. It has been shown in 25 previous animal studies that the frequency tuning widths are about 1/5 octave wide in auditory 26 nerve fibers and much wider in auditory cortex neurons (Pickles, 1979; McLaughlin et al., 2008; 27 see Table 1)....

3D atom probe study of solute atoms clustering during natural ageing and pre-ageing of an Al-Mg-Si alloy

The pair-correlation function applied to 3D Atom Probe reconstructed volumes has been used to study the influence of a pre-ageing treatment (363K) on the early stages of precipitation at 458K in an Al-Mg-Si 6016 alloy. Mg-Si short-range positive pair correlation (clustering) is shown to form after a pre-ageing treatment. The hetero-atomic clusters are thought to act as preferential nucleation s...

مشخصه یابی ساختاری و مغناطیسی آلیاژهای (Fe65-Co35)100-xSix تولید شده به روش آلیاژسازی مکانیکی

Fe-Co alloys have unique magnetic applications. Fe50Co50 alloy has the highest saturation magnetization value among Fe-Co alloys. Moreover, the introduction of Si into Fe can result in a decrease of magnetic anisotropy. In this study, in order to utilize combined advantages of Si and Co, the effect of adding 10 and 20 at.% Si on the microstructural and magnetic properties of Fe65Co35 alloy wa...
